:I know from talking to Russell that the block has to be drilled and re-threaded to accept the bigger 9/16" stud. :Do the heads also have to be drilled to accept the bigger stud?Yes the bolt holes in the heads have to be drilled a tad OS. We've set up a fixture to drill and tap the blocks and drill the heads. We will be offering this service along with the studs. We could have chosen a smaller stud that wouldn't require drilling the head, but in order to provide the clamping force we need for up to ~1500 crank hp, our calculations show that stock size in L-19 or 1/2" in the 8740 or ARP 2000 aren't going to be quite enough to be confident the head won't lift. :The short studs don't look like they are fully seated. Is that how they stayed or does the kit have actual short studs that will seat properly in the block? Yes, the kit includes two shorter studs. All the studs will seat fully down in the block. That picture was taken before all the studs were seated. :I notice your block does not have the head locating dowels. Do they have to be removed because the head sits a little different with the studs? The locating dowels can still be used without a problem.
